FRESHKILLS PARK The landfill reclamation and redevelopment project came to a head in 2035, and Freshkills Park, a beautiful, scenic, iconic testament to New York City's Parks and Recreation department's sheer ability and willpower, was luckily untouched by the nuclear blazes and most of the radiation. Freshkills, due to the sheer volume of water surrounding it, and possible GECK involvement, still retains its greenery and foliage, for some unknown reason -- but much of the 2,200 acre park is now overgrown, almost jungle-like, and host to any number of dangerous natural flora and fauna that have made their home there. VAULT 28 Nobody's quite sure when Vault 28 first opened. Most people aren't even aware of its existence. Deep beneath the intricate, labyrinthine network of Staten Island's sewer system lies the entrance, faded by the edge of an old, empty storm drain. Some say they still hear it open at night, and others yet claim they hear voices coming from within. In truth, nobody really knows exactly when the X-Men started populating Vault 28, but one thing's for sure -- the only challengers they've ever had have been sewer rats.
