FRESHKILLS PARK
The landfill reclamation and redevelopment project came to a head in 2035, and Freshkills Park, a beautiful, scenic, iconic testament to New York City's Parks and Recreation department's sheer ability and willpower, was luckily untouched by the nuclear blazes and most of the radiation. Freshkills, due to the sheer volume of water surrounding it, and possible GECK involvement, still retains its greenery and foliage, for some unknown reason -- but much of the 2,200 acre park is now overgrown, almost jungle-like, and host to any number of dangerous natural flora and fauna that have made their home there.
