EMPIRE STATE BUILDING The building that gives Empire City its name and once the iconic centrepiece of the New York City skyline, the Empire State Building is a perfect testament to the ruined glory of the old world. Now used as a crow's nest and sniper tower by a collection of fiends, it's claimed that whoever has control over the Empire State Building has a strategic advantage over all other parties in Midtown. TIMES SQUARE Times Square was a major commercial intersection in New York City and the host of many celebrations over the years before the war; it's now possibly the bloodiest frontier of the entire warzone that is Manhattan other than Central Park, with every building that hasn't had its structure shot or blown out used as sniper towers or machine gun nests for the forces of whatever side might be holding it today. Sub-board: VAULT 75 THE UN HEADQUARTERS A large complex on the eastern banks of Midtown Manhattan, the UN Headquarters, whilst far from safe, are considerably less violent than the more centralised areas of the district. Once the centre of peace and nonviolent resolution in the pre-war world, the towering base of the United Nations stands on the Manhattan waterfront, long since forgotten. Sub-board: FOGWELL'S GYM HELL'S KITCHEN Also known as Midtown West, the neighbourhood of Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan was once a bastion of working-class Irish Americans. Before the war it was home primarily to actors thanks to a process of gentrification which displaced the working-class demographic -- none of that really matters now. MUTANTSIDE The old and more well known parts of Broadway running through Midtown Manhattan were marred with blood and death during the first few years of excursion after humanity reemerged, but that doesn't compare at all to what they're like now. A two mile long stretched has been bordered off at every possible junction, heavily guarded by Super Mutants and well-armed ghoul platoons at every point of entry, individuals simply looking out for their own common interests. Signs painted in the blood of smoothskins that wouldn't listen at the north and south entry points read "MUTANTSIDE". This is the base of operations of the Firmament.
