[attr="class","dupertext"]▀ Superhuman Legs: Separate from his overall strength, Toad's leg strength is much greater than the average human. With this he can leap high and far, as well as deliver incredibly powerful kicks.

▀ Superhuman Body: Aside from his legs, Toad's body surpasses humans in many aspects. He is more durable than a human, has enhanced reflexes, is incredibly agile, has an incredibly flexible due to his bone structure, has an advanced respiratory system that allows him to hold his breath for great length, while also having enough stamina that he can outlast most humans when exerting himself. His upper body strength is high too, though nowhere near the level of his legs.

▀ Healing Factor: Though limited compared to some other mutants, Toad has a healing factor that adds to his natural reliance. Minor ailments last for hours, whereas greater injuries can take longer. Regenerating entire limbs is possible, though it can take months. Furthermore, his healing factor doesn't bring him back from the dead. A shot in the head would kill him, as would destroying any other vital body parts.

▀ Prehensile Tongue: Toad has a thirty-foot tongue that he has an incredible amount of control over, even able to use it as a whip-like weapon or to lift heavy objects.

▀ Paralytic Resin: From his pores, Toad can produce an adhesive that not only allows him to stick to most surfaces but can also cause minor paralysis to those who come into contact with it. This causes most organisms’ reactions to be dulled, though it does not put them out immediately on its own.

▀ Acidic Saliva: Toad's saliva has an acidic quality, able to eat away at most materials. He can spit it at quite the distance.

▀ UV/Infrared Vision: With his eyes being the way they are, Toad is capable of percieving light on the ultraviolet and infrared spectrum. With this he has a greater ability to see at night, though it also makes him sensitive to light that others wouldn't be bothered by.

▀ Amphibian Control: Using his connection to amphibian lifeforms, Toad can control and communicate with creatures that are a part of that class of animal.

▀ Survival: Well, nobody else was going to look after a ugly green freak like Toad. He had to learn how to survive in the wasteland on his own, and with many mistakes and close-calls along the way he eventually learnt how to do it well.

▀ Unarmed: Toad grew up making use of his natural abilities rather than relying on equipment, as unreliable as it can be. He can fight well with his own body, particularly favouring the use of his feet due to the greater strength of his legs.

▀ Pre-War Clothing: Simple, unarmoured pre-war clothing that Toad uses to cover himself.

▀ Biker Goggles: Goggles that Toad wears whenever working during the daylight, they serve to protect his eyes from the light that they are sensitive to. Without them he is much more susceptible to being blinded by certain light.

Mortimer was an accident. An unwanted baby, concieved too early by two barely-adults who weren't even sure they loved each other yet. All the same, they stayed together from some strange sense of duty they felt they had, and Mortimer was born all the same. They immediately regretted this decision when he came from the womb as a green-skinned 'monster' of a child, ears pointed and teeth sharp. He was born a freak.

His parents tolerated him for a while, unable to abandon him so young despite how much they wanted to, but they never let their scorn for him go unknown. Mortimer learnt young he wasn't wanted. When he was out, kids taunted him and called him harsh names. Toad was the favourite, they compared him to a disgusting little creature that few were fond of.

It didn't seem long until his parents finally decided to completely abandon him, leaving him behind in the shitty little abandoned 'home' they had lived in. At first the young boy was scared, until he realized he didn't care. He would be better off without them, and now he didn't need to stick around to listen to the torment.

Living as he did in Empire City was lonely. Most people who saw him thought he was some kind of ghoul, attacking on sight, and even those who didn’t rarely gave him more than a disgusted stare. The ghouls themselves weren't very accepting towards him either, still considered 'smoothskin' by their standards. There was a time when he would've done anything to be appreciated, to have somewhere accept him, but eventually he came to terms with the fact that was never going to happen.

He stopped caring about any kind of companionship and instead focused on simply surviving, using the mutation that others had hated him for as his tool to keep on living. Over time he began to fully understand it, letting it become a part of him while before he rejected it. One day he had even stopped calling himself by the name his parents had given him, referring to himself as Toad. It fit him after all, so he'd take that insult and use it as his personal banner.

And that was how Toad lived his life from then on. Surviving on his own. After all, what else is there for someone like him?
